Securonix Partners with Non-Profit Educator NextGen Cyber Talent to Train Future Generation of Cybersecurity Professionals

Leading SIEM Provider Offers Virtual Training Courses in Cybersecurity to Close the Skills Gap and Develop Future SOC Talent

ADDISON, Texas – January 26, 2021 – Securonix, Inc., a leader in Next-Gen SIEM, today announced it has partnered with non-profit education provider NextGen Cyber Talent to pilot a series of virtual training courses that will bring new and diverse talent to the cybersecurity field. Designed to prepare students for entry-level security operations center (SOC) positions, Securonix’s “SIEM with Analytics” course will demystify security information and event management (SIEM) by bringing students through the steps of tailoring and deploying a SIEM to full SOC integration.

According to a recent ISC(2) study, there is a Cybersecurity Workforce Gap of 3.1 million globally, which many professionals say is putting their organizations at risk. As an end-to-end security operations and analytics platform deployed by several of the world’s largest enterprises, the Securonix Training Certification will prepare students for jobs with organizations that use Securonix and other equivalent platforms. Upon completing the program, students will be ready for a career as a security incident response and to use the Securonix platform as a security monitoring and incident response analyst.

“The skills gap is one of the foremost challenges in the cybersecurity industry today. The problem isn’t a lack of interest on behalf of students, it’s a lack of opportunity to gain the hands-on experience needed for entry-level jobs,” said Sachin Nayyar, CEO at Securonix. “At Securonix, we believe that contributing to this cause is not only good for students, but vital for the overall health of the cybersecurity industry. By partnering with NextGen Cyber Talent, we hope to help secure a better future for both.”

NextGen Cyber Talent will work with community colleges, enterprise and technology providers and other non-profit organizations to offer Securonix’s live virtual training to a diverse group of 120 students each year. These students will either have background in cybersecurity courses as part of their degree, have signed up for computer science undergraduate programs or already be working for an organization in IT or an adjacent field. Upon course completion, NextGen Cyber Talent will provide assistance with job placement. The courses will also be available on-demand through the NextGen Cyber Talent platform.

“Full-time higher education programs are a significant commitment that are often time- or cost-restrictive for students. By offering individual courses and certification programs online, we’re able to make highly specialized careers and in-demand jobs more accessible to a wide group of future professionals,” said Krishnan Chellakarai, CISO at Gilead Sciences and Founder and Chairman at NextGen Cyber Talent. “Piloting this program with Securonix allows us to also offer hands-on experience with a real-world platform that has broad reach, and also gives students direct access to leading experts in the field. This is a unique opportunity that we believe will make a significant impact for our students.”
